Wine Country Club Ride Our daily Ride, Wine, & Dine Tours are designed as relaxing rides through the vineyards enjoying the climate, food, and wine. They are perfect tours for riders looking to get some exercise, but want to focus more on the wine country experience. However, if you're looking for a tour emphasizing more cycling than wine tasting, we've got the ride for you! You'll cycle 20 - 30 miles in the morning; the terrain is typically mixed with rolling hills and flats, but something a little more descriptive than a “hill” might get in our way! The morning is a "club-like" ride, so no one is left behind…our guide stays in the back. The goal is to meet the Ride, Wine, & Dine Tour group at the second winery and finish out the day with them. This tour allows the cyclist in any group to get their fix so they can relax and enjoy the daily Ride, Wine, & Dine bicycle tour with their spouse or friends. Cycling shoes and shorts are highly recommended, but not required. Sample Day: We will get started at 9:30 a.m. where you will be fitted to a complementary bike and helmet (By the way, we’re not your typical bicycle rental and touring company…we recycle our bicycles every year offering you the latest model bicycles from well-known bicycle manufacturers like Specialized and Trek). After an introduction to the rules-of-the-road and bicycle orientation, you’ll cycle 20-30 miles on varied terrain. The pace varies drastically; you may choose to stay with the group or dart off ahead by yourself. The goal of this ride is to meet our daily Ride, Wine, & Dine Tour group at their second winery. Depending on your speed, you might have time for a tasting at that winery; in any case, you will relax and enjoy the rest of the day at the pace of the Ride, Wine, & Dine Tour. You also have a half-day option where you can cycle back to the shop or ride back in the van. If you choose to continue on for lunch and wine tastings, we’ll guide you to two more fantastic wineries that we have hand selected where you will have an opportunity to taste fine wines and possibly go on an educational tour behind the scenes. Each route is strategically designed with winery stops approximately every 4 miles. Rest, relax, and taste at each winery for 30 - 45 minutes...no rushing, plenty of time to take in the scenery and sample wines. Depending on availability, our lunch setting will either overlook the valley with breath-taking views or overlook the vineyards – a wonderful way to enjoy fresh fruit and cheese, salads, and local deli sandwiches. Don’t worry about your purchases along the way; our van support is close behind picking them up. We’ll finish the tour around 4:00pm. Our guides will do everything in their power to ensure you have a memorable day. Again, the focus of the morning is cycling and the focus in the afternoon is a Wine Country experience that engages all your senses: some comfortable activity complete with beautiful scenery, fresh air, birds singing, and of course, great wine and food! Time: 9:30am to approximately 4:00pm Terrain: Morning - varied terrain with flats and hills Afternoon - mostly flat, easy terrain Speed: Morning - as fast as you want Afternoon - casual, relaxing ride through the vineyards Mileage: 35-50 miles Dates Available: Every day, 365 days a year Our Bicycles: We take pride in our bicycle fleet...my grandfather used to say, "You're only as good as your tools." Back then, “tools” meant construction tools as this was a way of life in our family. Today, the translation for our business is simple: TOOLS = BICYCLES. We've teamed up with Specialized Bicycles and KHS to offer you great quality, current-year models for an enjoyable ride. Whether you are a recreational rider or an avid cyclist with your own pedals, we have a bike and pedals for you. Pick from road, road-hybrid, comfort, or full-suspension mountain bikes, tandems, recumbants …we even have electric bikes! Although we offer no discount, we welcome you to bring your own bike, but frankly, there's no reason too. For a complete list of our bikes and pedals, check out our List of Bikes. Weather: We tour rain or shine. In the rare occurrence that the weather doesn’t cooperate (see Weather), we’ll be your “chauffer” for the day. Our guides have several alternative activities to make your vacation day a memorable one...wine component seminars, cooperage tours (wine barrel manufacturers), art galleries, or simply touring the wineries are just some of the possibilities. You can even cycle in the rain if you want (your spouse might be in the van though!) Winery selection: Napa and Sonoma Counties are home to over 600 wineries. When selecting wineries for our tour, we try and offer a balance between small, boutique wineries and larger, well known wineries. The overall atmosphere and ambiance of the winery, the physical location, and the cycling distance between wineries is also considered. The list is quite extensive, but here are a few places we have been known to frequent: Acacia, Andretti, Artesa, Baldacci, Bartholomew Park, Beaulieu Vineyards (BV), Bell, Bennett Lane, Bouchaine, Ceja Vineyards, Cliff Lede, Chateau Montelena, Clos Du Val, Clos Pegase, Del Dotto, Domaine Carneros, Domaine Chandon, Duckhorn Vineyards and Paraduxx, Dry Creek, Elizabeth Spencer Wines, Elyse, Folio Wines, Frank Family, Grgich Hills, Gundlach Bundschu, Hill Family, Homewood, Honig, Hopper Creek, Joseph Phelps, Laird Family, Luna, McKenzie Mueller, Monticello, Mumm, Opus One, Paraduxx, Pine Ridge, Plumpjack, Ravenswood, Regusci, Robert Sinskey, Rombauer, Rutherford Hill, Saddleback Cellars, Sawyer, Sequoia Grove, Signorello, Silver Rose, Silver Oak, St. Helena Olive Oil Company, Trefethen, Vincent Arroyo, Von Strausser Price: Full-day:$139 per person; Half-day: $95 per person (No Lunch) Please Note: A minimum of 4 guests are required; Sonoma Valley Bike Tours reserves the right to cancel or change the tour itinerary if this minimum is not met.
