Ride, Wine, and Dine Bicycling Vacation

Get ready to enjoy the best days of your life experiencing what Sonoma Valley has to offer.  Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a vacation adventure with friends and family, this vacation can be tailored to fulfill your desires.  Each vacation can be customized to your liking – package just the right number of cycling rides and wine tastings with other activities such as spa treatments, limousines, hot air ballooning, kayaking, and hiking.

Every vacation is partnered with the best accommodations at the price level you wish; we’ve visited and hand-selected each property to ensure that your stay will be nothing but perfect.  Speaking of perfect, Napa Valley is home to 1 of 2 Culinary Institutes of America; as a result, Napa and Sonoma Valley is filled with world-class, world-famous restaurants.  This vacation package includes dinner every night at one of these fine restaurants.  Don’t worry, there will be plenty of biking and activities to help burn off any extra calories you might enjoy during this adventure!

So relax, put your feet up, and let us be your personal concierge.  We’ll package biking, dining, accommodations, and a little bit more into an unforgettable vacation.

Bicycling vacation packages are unique here at Sonoma Valley Bike Tours.  We believe wine country vacations are unlike any other vacations; a wine country vacation is all about relaxing and enjoying the food and wine that have made our valley famous…spending quality time together with a loved one or friends leaving your worries behind.  We took this into consideration when designing this vacation package; we don't require you to live out of a suitcase moving from hotel to hotel every day; nor do we have group dining on set schedules.  It’s all about settling into one luxurious place, cycling and tasting fine wines during the day, and enjoying a fine dining experience on your schedule!

Whether you stay 2 nights or 5 nights, unpack, relax, and make yourself at home.  Your mornings and evenings are yours…dine when and where you want.  Your only scheduled group activity is the bicycle tour starting at 10am.  This daily bicycle tour is when you’ll have plenty of time to socialize and meet people from all over the country.

Sample 4-4-4 (4-nights, 4-dinners, 4-tours) Itinerary:

Day 1 (Arrival Day)
Welcome to Sonoma Valley! Depending on your arrival time, we can recommend several enjoyable activities close by in Sonoma Plaza; Art galleries; museums; or shopping at the Sonoma Plaza, the center of historic, beautiful downtown Sonoma. We’ll give you directions to your accommodations, along with directions to the restaurant that you will be having dinner tonight.

Day 2
After breakfast, We will meet for your first, full-day, guided bicycle tour – what we call our
Ride, Wine, & Dine Tour.  We’ll visit four wineries with lunch catered at the third winery overlooking the vineyards.  Our Ride, Wine and Dine tours are designed for the tourist, not the cyclist.  It’s a relaxing ride through the vineyards enjoying the food, wine, and scenery; so don’t worry about being fit enough - you'll be fine.  Now, if you are a cyclist or someone looking for more exercise, we have a special treat for you too.  Join us for our Wine Country Club Ride.  This is a great way for the cyclist(s) in the group to “get it out of their system” or the exercise fanatics to work up a sweat before meeting the rest of the group for a relaxing ride through the vineyards on the guided Ride, Wine, & Dine Tour today.

The Ride, Wine, and Dine Tour finishes between 3pm and 5pm.  It’s all about you, so we don’t push you through the day.  Depending on your accommodations, you’ll have plenty of time to jump in the year-round heated pool or relax in your room before dinner.  Tonight, we’ve made dinner reservations for you at one of the world-class restaurants that are abundant in the valley.

Day 3
To sum it up, Day 2 was so perfect, you’ll want to do it again today!  The only thing we'll change is where you cycle; we want you to see as much of the Sonoma Valley as possible.  It will be another wonderful day in the wine country setting the stage for another great evening of dining.

Day 4 (Option day)
If you’re ready for some variety today, we can organize several other activities for you in place of the Ride, Wine, and Dine bicycle tour.  Don’t misunderstand us, we would love for you to join us on the bicycle tour today, but you can also exchange it for one of the following:

  • Spa Package – exchange a day of cycling and take a beautiful scenic drive over to Calistoga, just north of the Napa Valley to Calistoga. Calistoga, known as the “Hot Springs of the West”, is home to spa treatments offered nowhere else in America.  Natural geysers in Calistoga spout mineral water from the earth at 200+ degree temperatures.  After a cooling down process, this mineral water is directed into hot tubs and pools.  Although this sounds very appealing in the winter months, it’s also something to consider year-round as mineral water is touted as a muscle relaxer and skin rejuvenator.  Calistoga is also home to volcanic ash; when mixed with hot mineral water, it creates a cleansing, relaxing “mud bath” that eases the stresses and strains of everyday life.  Mud baths promote deep relaxation, increased circulation, skin cleansing, and exfoliation. Traditional spa treatment options are available as well.
  • How about being chauffeured around in a limousine?  We can arrange limo services for 2 to 10; higher numbers available (using buses or multiple limos.)  Depending on the number of people booking this option, there could be an additional charge of up to $90 per person; private tours could be as much as $150 more per person.
  • Cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge, have lunch, then take an easy mountain bike ride on Mt Tamalpais, where many claim that mountain biking originated.  For more information, check out our Golden Gate & Mt Tam Tour. At least 6 people must book this option.
  • How about a day of hiking?  We’ll have your picnic basket ready for you and directions to some of the best hiking spots in Sonoma Valley.  Enjoy a couple of hours or spend all day scouting around by yourselves.
  • Sunset River Cruise – After a day of shopping or relaxing at the pool, let us book a sunset cruise on a riverboat excursion down the Napa River.
  • Balloon Ride – It’s just a couple of hours in the morning, but it creates memories that last a lifetime.  Let us know if you would like us to book this for your vacation experience to Sonoma Valley.  The rest of the day is yours for shopping or relaxing at the pool. This option is available at an additional charge of $110/person.
  • Kayaking -  We kayak on a serene lake in a mountainous setting in Sonoma Valley, so previous "river-type" kayaking experience is not required.  We’ll van you to our favorite spot with no commercialization; therefore, an abundance of flora, fauna, and larger wildlife.  There is a $50 additional charge per person and at least 4 people must book this option.
  • Horseback riding -  call Napa Valley Trail Rides at 707-255-2900, then provide us with the receipt and we'll reimburse you the cost.
  • Golfing -  Imagine a picturesque day of golf surrounded by mountains where you can play their beautifully landscaped course.
  • Ride a Segway!  What's a Segway?  Basically, it's a pogo stick on two wheels and it's fun.  More specifically, it's a two-wheeled, self-balancing, electric transportation device that uses "dynamic stabilization" technology that is designed to maintain balance.   Click this link for more info: Segway
  • Bring your tennis racquet...tennis courts are available too!

Whatever your choice today, we have dinner reservations awaiting you so you can enjoy your last evening with world-class dining.

Day 5

We'll be Cycling IN the Vineyards today.  After breakfast, join us for your last bicycle tour exploring another area of the valley, its world-class wines, and lunch.  During the past few days, you’ve probably purchased some prized wines…possibly more than you want to carry home. We’ll help you with your purchases by directing you to a local vendor that will ship them to your home. Tonight, dinner and accommodations are on your own, but we can make several suggestions to ensure that your experience is nothing but fabulous. If desired, you can add the cost of one more night; or, if your flight leaves early tomorrow, we can make recommendations for lodging near the airport.

Notes about our accommodations: We personally visit and inspect each property.  We meet the staff and owners/managers; thus, you can rest assured that any of the accommodations will offer you the perfect vacation in the valley.  We’ll match your budget to our partner properties.  Accommodations in the valley book fast…especially from May to October; thus, book as soon as you can to ensure that we can offer you accommodations at the level you desire.  Silver level packages offer a step above clean, casual, and comfortable accommodations; rooms typically range in the $200/night range (more on the weekends). Gold level packages provide luxurious accommodations in the $385/night range at premier resorts and inns.  Platinum level accommodations present you with premier properties or upgraded rooms at the Gold level properties.  Again, we’ve personally visited and inspected each property, so all properties in their respective price level are just as nice as the rest.  We select your accommodations based on availability with our partnered hotels.

Notes about dining: Based on Zagat ratings, responses from previous guests, and personal dining experiences, we will reserve a table for you in one of the world-class, world-famous restaurants in our valley.  Our first goal is to offer you a world-class experience; secondly, it’s our goal to keep you as close to your accommodations as possible in an effort to reduce, if not eliminate, the need for driving.  However, if friends or family have recommended a particular restaurant, let us know and we’ll do everything we can to get you a reservation.  Typically, we make reservations for our guests at the following restaurants:Cafe La Haye, The Girl and The Fig, Sante, Della Santina's, LaSalette, El Dorado Kitchen, Caneros Bistro & Wine Bar, Meritage Martini Oyster Bar & Grille, and The Wine Train.

Daily Options available with our daily bicycle tour: If you are on a limited schedule and want to experience as much as possible each day, the following activities pair well with our daily Ride, Wine, and Dine bicycle tour.  Let us know if you would like to add any of the following activities to your day:

  • Sunset River Cruise – After a day of cycling, relax with a sunset cruise in a riverboat floating down the Napa River. This option is available at an additional charge.
  • Balloon Ride – It’s just a couple of hours in the morning, but it creates memories that last a lifetime.  Let us know if you would like us to book this for your vacation experience to Napa Valley.  The rest of the day is yours for shopping or relaxing at the pool. This option is available at an additional charge.
  • Spa Package – How about a “peddle and pamper” day?  After cycling, let us reserve a welcoming spa treatment at a nearby spa.  You are responsible for spa charges.

Vacation Dates Available: Every day, 365 days a year.  We can offer you the luxury of starting your vacation any day you desire; no other bicycle touring company will offer you this, but we can.  Why? Because our office is located in the heart of Sonoma Valley…we work, live, dine, and cycle here!

Transportation to and from SFO or OAK airports:  Although Evans Transportation offers shuttle services to and from the airport, we recommend renting a car.  Renting a car is much more convenient and is more affordable if you select vacations up to the 3-3-3 package...yes, it’s cheaper to rent a car for 4 days and let it sit than it is to hire shuttle services.  If the 4-4-4 or 5-5-5 package appeals to you, arranging shuttle services will be more affordable, but you may be inconvenienced waiting for the shuttle as well as no option to explore the valley during down time each day.

Our Bicycles: We take pride in our bicycle fleet...my grandfather used to say, "You're only as good as your tools."  Back then, “tools” meant construction tools as this was a way of life in our family. Today, the translation for our business is simple: TOOLS = BICYCLES.  We've teamed up with Specialized Bicycles and KHS to offer you great quality, current-year models for an enjoyable ride.  Whether you are a recreational rider or an avid cyclist with your own pedals, we have a bike and pedals for you.  Pick from road, road-hybrid, comfort, or full-suspension mountain bikes, tandems, recumbants …we even have electric bikes!  Although we offer no discount, we welcome you to bring your own bike, but frankly, there's no reason too.   For a complete list of our bikes and pedals, check out our List of Bikes.

Price: Our vacation prices depend on your accommodation level, time of year, and length of stay.  Select from 2-nights, 2-dinners, and 2-tours (2-2-2 Vacation) to 5-nights, 5-dinners, and 5-tours (our 5-5-5 Vacation).  Prices below are per person and based on double occupancy...if you are coming by yourself, please give us a call/email for special pricing.  The only difference with our Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels is the accommodations.
