Sonoma Valley Bike Tours.
Enjoy your visit to Sonoma Valley!

Ride, Wine, and Dine Tour

One of our most popular cycling tours!  This tour is designed for the tourist, not the cyclist.  It’s a relaxing ride around the vineyards enjoying the fresh air, food and wine, so don’t worry about being fit enough...you'll be fine.

We’ve carefully designed road routes within the Sonoma Valley (including the Carneros region, much of the vast Sonoma County: Glen Ellen, Kenwood, Healdsburg/Dry Creek area and Bodega Bay coastal region). If you are interested in touring through our sister city, Napa Valley, we have many tours available to expand your adventure with us while vacationing in Sonoma Valley!

Based on winery availability and the number of reserved guests, we’ll select from one of our pre-designed routes. They are all truly amazing and entice you to spend more days with us so that you can enjoy many regions of the wine country.

Sample Day:

We will get started at 9:30 a.m. where you will be fitted to a complementary Hybrid / Road bike and helmet (By the way, we’re not your typical bicycle rental and touring company…we recycle our bicycles every year offering you the latest model bicycles from well-known bicycle manufacturers like Specialized and Trek).  After an introduction to the rules-of-the-road and bicycle orientation, you’ll be peddling away to your first winery.

We’ll bike at your pace for 15-20 miles on mostly flat, easy terrain with the wine country as our backdrop… picturesque mountains, vineyards, olive trees, redwoods, manzanitas, eucalyptus, lavender, and rosemary.  We’ll guide you to four fantastic wineries that we have hand selected where you will have an opportunity to taste fine wines and possibly go on an educational tour behind the scenes.  Each route is strategically designed with winery stops approximately every 4 miles.

Rest, relax, and taste at each winery for 30 - 45 minutes...no rushing, plenty of time to take in the scenery and sample wines.  Depending on availability, our lunch setting will either overlook the valley with breath-taking views or overlook the vineyards – a wonderful way to enjoy fresh fruit and cheese, salads, and local deli sandwiches.  Don’t worry about your purchases along the way; our van support is close behind picking them up.

We’ll finish the tour around 4:00pm. Our guides will do everything in their power to ensure you have a memorable day. Again, the focus of the day is a Wine Country experience that engages all your senses: some comfortable activity complete with beautiful scenery, fresh air, birds singing, and of course, great wine and food!

Time: 9:30am to approximately 4:00pm

Terrain: Mostly flat, easy terrain

Speed: Casual, relaxing ride around the vineyards

Mileage: 15-20 miles

Dates Available: Every day, 365 days a year

Our Bicycles: We take pride in our bicycle fleet...my grandfather used to say, "You're only as good as your tools."  Back then, “tools” meant construction tools as this was a way of life in our family. Today, the translation for our business is simple: TOOLS = BICYCLES.  We've teamed up with Specialized Bicycles and KHS to offer you great quality, current-year models for an enjoyable ride.  Whether you are a recreational rider or an avid cyclist with your own pedals, we have a bike and pedals for you.  Pick from road, road-hybrid, comfort, or full-suspension mountain bikes, tandems, recumbants …we even have electric bikes!  Although we offer no discount, we welcome you to bring your own bike, but frankly, there's no reason too.   For a complete list of our bikes and pedals, check out our List of Bikes.

Weather:  We tour rain or shine.  In the rare occurrence that the weather doesn’t cooperate (see Weather), we’ll be your “chauffer” for the day. Our guides have several alternative activities to make your vacation day a memorable one...wine component seminars, cooperage tours (wine barrel manufacturers), art galleries, or simply touring the wineries are just some of the possibilities.  You can even cycle in the rain if you want (your spouse might be in the van though!)

Winery selection: The Napa and Sonoma Vallys are home to over 600 wineries.  When selecting wineries for our tour, we try and offer a balance between small, boutique wineries and larger, well known wineries.  The overall atmosphere and ambiance of the winery, the physical location, and the cycling distance between wineries is also considered.  The list is quite extensive, but here are a few places we have been known to frequent: Acacia, Artesa, Bartholomew Park, Bouchaine, Ceja Vineyards, Domaine Carneros, Dry Creek, Folio Wines, Gundlach Bundschu, Homewood, McKenzie Mueller, and Ravenswood.

Price: $139 per person
Price includes bicycle, helmet, gourmet lunch, SVBT cycling water bottle, unlimited water, Clif Bar, guide, and van support.  Wine tasting fees are not included.

Please Note: A minimum of 4 guests are required; Sonoma Valley Bike Tours reserves the right to cancel or change the tour itinerary if this minimum is not met.

1. Pickup/dropoff service at your hotel or B&B - $10 per person

2. More Cycling - Want to focus a little more on cycling verses food and wine?  Looking for more miles?  Need some exercise?  Consider signing up for the Wine Country Club Ride and meet the rest of your group at the second or third winery just before lunch.

3. After the tour, you are more than welcome to continue riding (self-guided) until 5:00pm.  We'll provide you a map.
